As "pilgrims of faith & witnesses of the risen Christ" let this year be characterised by " forgiveness & the encounter with the living Christ through the administration of the Sacramments of Penance and the Eucharist " Benedict XV1

(1) Pope Benedict XV1 has inaugurated the "Year for Priests". Honouring St. John Vianney, the holy father said that "our mission is indispensable, it demands fidelity, the constant search for holiness, and "the rediscovery of the beauty of priesthood"  (read more on the home page). Special prayer cards available in the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.
2)  St. John Vianney exclaimed,  "O, how great is the priest....if he realised what he is, he would die...God obeys him: he utters a few words and the Lord descends from heaven."

The Rathkenny Church Choir invites members of the congregation to sing with it at Mass. The text of the Hymns used is available to all in the newly-produced  folder.

Preparation for Marriage

All couples wishing to get married must book the church and contact the local priest well in advance of making preparations for their wedding day.

All couples must complete the Pre-Nuptial inquiry forms in their local parish at least six months before they wish to get married. Accord: From January 1st 2009 all Marriage Preparation Bookings will be done via the

website - www.gettingmarried.ie.

It is particularly important that couples planning to get married abroad must contact the local priest before making any arrangements with the travel agent or wedding co-ordinator. This should help to ensure that no serious difficulties arise before major commitments have been made.
Instruction from our Bishop, Most Rev.Michael Smith " Wedding arrangements must only be made when the couple meet with their priest and commence the pre-nuptial inquiry process...." This is part of further directives to be followed by priests in the diocese and issued by Bishop Michael Smith recently. Further details on the matter from your priest.

PARISH PRAYER MINISTRY
