Fifth Station
Simon of Cyrene helps Jesus carry His cross.

Invocation
V. We adore you, O Christ, and we bless you.
R. Because by Your Holy Cross you have redeemed the world.

"And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country, to carry the cross of Jesus." Mark 15: 31

The Roman soldiers compelled Simon to carry the cross of Jesus. May we never be found unwilling to assist others in carrying the burdens that life may bring them.

Let us pray:
Lord Jesus, you said, Whatever you do to one of these my least ones, you do to me.Grant to us the spiritual vision to recognise you in the sufferings and burdens that others may have to carry, and help us to comfort and support them.
