Nain

A town in  the SW of Galilee where Jesus raised a widow's only son from the dead Luke 7: 11-17. It was the first-recorded miracle of Jesus raising someone from the dead.

Nain, which means pleasant pastures, was about 9k (6 miles) SE of Nazareth, overlooked by Mount Tabor, and on the edge of the fertile Plain of Esdraelon and the Valley of Jezreel. Today there is a small arab village there, built on the ruins of a much larger town.
