Céili 2008
Our school has been focusing on oral Irish this year. Tying in with this gaelic idea the senior classes did projects on Irish themes from The Famine, G.A.A., Land League, Legends, Easter Rising of 1916 and many more. On 13th March 6th class decorated Rathkenny Hall in Green, hung up the projects and a céili was held. Many class groups played tunes on the tin whistles and sang Irish songs. All classes did some Irish dancinG. Thanks to Harry Long, Ger Doggett, Oliver and Paddy Reilly and Grace Crilly (Harp) who played the music. John Joe Price can be thanked for the great sound on the night. Thanks to Jackie Murray and Louise Connolly for the Irish dancing lessons for the children. A raffle was held and light refreshments were served for supper. It was a huge success on many levels and good funwas had by all. We made music ourselves! (John Joe setting up!)
And then the pros helped us out! Thank you!
Louise and Jackie did great work!
Great crowd turned up to support! Great dancing!
Big brothers and sisters came along to lend their support!
