‘what I have read in the report is a cause of great sadness’

So writes Bishop Deenihan in response to the report of the Commission of Investigation into Mother and Baby Homes, two of which were in Dunboyne and Castlepollard, in our Diocese.
‘...the lack of kindness and compassion, as
identified by the Commission is...clear. When the Church, State and society lose respect for the individual and forget that we are made in the image and likeness of God, dignity is forgotten and human life is not valued. ...I have met with individuals who...have been unfairly burdened with an unwarranted but enduring sense of shame...we have an obligation to do what we can to lift this burden.

Prayer for Christian Unity
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins on Monday 18th January.
The theme chosen is ‘Abide in my love and you shall bear much fruit’ (John15: 1- 17).
It was chosen to express the Christian Community’s vocation to
pray and work for reconciliation and unity within the church, our human family and all of creation. It is very necessary as we are divided by circumstances, but united in Christ. We pray for a peaceful change of administration in the U.S. during this week.

COVID-19 seems to be more prevalent and contagious in this third wave, so
please cooperate with the guidelines, pray for safety and act in a safe way.
Pray for all on the front line, those making and implementing important decisions and those administering the vaccines.

Jesus asks a significant question of his early followers in today’s Gospel.
What do you want?’
How would I answer that question?

LMFM Mass, next Sunday morning, will be from Rushwee church.
