Advent Prayer

God of hope,
at this time we look forward in anticipation
and look back in thankfulness.
Bless all who pave the way for others,
remembering John the Baptist.
As Mary and Joseph waited patiently
so may we be faithful and watchful
in our prayers and actions.
As we await the coming of the Light of the World,
may we bring light to others.
Renew and restore, us and our world,
in Faith, Hope and Love
so that all can celebrate
the birth of Jesus this Christmas.
We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
