|||
Information St. Alphonsus was born in Naples, Italy, in 1696. He was a doctor of both Canon and Civil Law. St. Alphonsus was ordained a priest in 1726. He founded the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer (the Redemptorists). About 1756, he was appointed Bishop of St. Agatha, a diocese he governed until 1775 when, broken by age and infirmity, he resigned his office to retire to his convent, where he died. St. Alphonsus is the Patron Saint of Confessors, Moral Theology and Vocations."They who live in prosperity, and have no experience of adversity, know nothing of the state of their souls. In the first place, tribulation opens the eyes which prosperity had kept shut." (Alphonsus Liguori 1696-1787)
